1. Make a plan

Planning is essential for carrying out any task and it would not be different at the time of producing videos. The organization optimizes the work, avoiding wasting time and money.

Keeping in mind the purpose of the video is also very important because this will guide the entire planning. Attract traffic to your company website; increase the number of subscribers on YouTube; generate leads; publicize products?

Define the topics, organize a schedule and make a detailed briefing if someone helps you at some point with the editing, this way, the person will know exactly what your plans are, thus avoiding the need to redo the videos and consequently reducing expenses.

2. Invest in used equipment

We know that it is possible to produce a quality video using only a good mobile phone, right? If the content is excellent, people will not care about the details. However, this is usually an exception. It is crucial to have the right equipment to produce high quality videos that attract visitors and generate engagement.  Camera, microphone, tripod, lighting… You must be thinking “All this must be expensive”. And it is true, good equipment is not cheap.

But there are options for those who cannot invest much yet. How about renting the equipment?

There are companies that provide all the necessary equipment for capturing images, usually renting it on a daily basis. However, this alternative does not pay much if the idea is to produce videos frequently, because it becomes very expensive.

In that case, choosing to buy used equipment may be the solution. At this point, care needs to be redoubled: choose shops or well-known professionals who have good recommendations from friends or users to avoid “you get what you pay for”. Cameras are fragile and have a shelf life. Before buying, check the condition of the equipment.

3. Produce good scripts

Perhaps, this topic is the most important in the article. Quality of sound and image is essential, but if the content is not interesting, it is no use. Use creativity and produce interesting scripts, keeping in mind the interests of your target audience.

This is the moment to create also the style of your videos, which can become your trademark. The video must make sense and have a set time. Generally, short videos tend to generate more engagement, being watched until the end.

Keep in mind what will be said and shown before starting the recording optimizes the work. The script must have a brief introduction, development and conclusion. Ending with a question may be a good option to encourage people to participate in the comments box.

4. Create scenarios

Scenarios are an advantage for videos and you can create them without spending a lot of money. It is time to use and overuse creativity! How about changing the face of the sofa by putting on some stylish pillows? Or some pictures on the wall behind where the person will sit?

Are you going to record at a table? Place some objects on top of it that have to do with your content. Is your channel about tourism? Objects from previous trips may be an option or even an airplane. Are you going to talk about literature? How about having a bookshelf behind or next to you?

Well, there are multiple options that can be used to produce videos without a big budget. Let your imagination run wild and create a nice scenario, which has elements related to the topic focused, but being careful to not pollute the environment. After all, the scenario cannot draw more attention than the person that will speak in the video.

5. Give great attention to editing

It is no news to anyone that you can find everything on the internet, including tutorials that teach how to edit videos. If the idea is to make simple cuts, it may be possible for a layman to be able to edit their own images.

However, if you wish something more elaborate, the ideal is to hire a videomaker or a video editor. In addition to specific expertise, this person will probably have the equipment and software required to do this.

Most editing software programs are not free. Moreover, they require powerful computers that handle large files. Therefore, asking a freelancer professional to edit your videos may be the best option.

Do not forget to arrange with that person how the process will work, whether the files will be sent by through the cloud or whether the delivery will be in person; the production deadline; the form of payment, etc.
