Much has been said about the new WordPress editor, the Gutenberg, which very soon will be used in all WordPress installations the good news is that we already have our plugin E-goi Smart Marketing ready for Gutenberg.
Our Gutenberg block
Gutenberg will be a reality in WordPress for the next few years, so we decided to start adapting our plugin to this new editor and have our own block. If you want to start using our E-goi form block for Gutenberg, just look for E-goi in the new editor.
Who is Gutenberg?
If you are a WordPress user you may have noticed that over the years the WP visual editor has had few changes, continuing with only the most basic features for editing text. Several plugins have helped add more functionality to this editor and improve the experience of use, but always as an external feature that one had to add to the base of WordPress.
All of these reasons have led to the development by WordPress (Automattic) of a new, completely redesigned editor with draggable, simpler and user-friendly blocks, the Gutenberg (see a demo). This new editor will be officially released in WordPress version 5.0
Should I upgrade to WordPress 5.0 version?
Experts say, not yet. Maybe it’s better to wait a little longer!
There may be some incompatibilities with some of the plugins or themes you use on your website and a number of improvements may appear in the days following WordPress 5.0 release to resolve those issues. See Yoast’s opinion.
Remember when you want to upgrade to version 5.0 and if you have any questions about the compatibility of your plugins and theme, always make a full backup of your website and try out all the features in a test environment.
